What a great experience. We could "taste" the magic soul of San Giulio island in this wonderful old house. The lake view from the room and during breakfast was truly amazing. A special mention to Mrs. Eugenia who pampered us and made the stay even more enjoyable. A place you can not miss if you want to stay on the island. Ask Mrs. Eugenia to let you visit the garden with private dock, the old kitchens and the garden with raised tower, it will be a great experience."
Ein ganz besonderer Ort an einem ganz besonderen Ort. Wer Ruhe, viel Platz, antike Einrichtung, Charme und tollen Blick mag, ist hier genau richtig. Heizung, Bäder, Küche funktionieren perfekt trotz des alten Hauses. Empfang und Betreuung waren sehr herzliche und aufmerksam. Ohne das mitgemietete Boot ist ein Aufenthalt zwar möglich, aber deutlich beschwerlicher. Leider hatte das Restaurant auf der Insel nur noch mittags und sporadisch geöffnet, ein Argument mehr für die Bootsmiete."
Our stay at Eugenia's home has left us speechless, therefore, articulating what made it so special is a bit challenging, but here it goes: Isola San Giulio is one of the most enchanting places I can imagine. It is an old, quiet, and wise island a short boat ride away from beautiful lakeside towns. Eugenia's 19th century (?) villa is likewise quiet and wise, with beautiful period decor throughout. Waking up to the view out the balcony across the lake to Orta and enjoying the same view from the second-floor terrace while enjoying a drink in the afternoon will make think you've been reborn as a god. We visited in late September, and due to a hot summer, the lake water was still a great swimming temperature. I should note the lake waters are pristine. Do opt to rent Eugenia's boat for convenience and leisurely touring the lake. Eugenia and her co-hosts are very kind and accommodating. I made the mistake of being too casual about getting to the island. Make sure to know which ferry dock to board a boat for the Isola (there are 3 in Pella). If you are limited to communicating in English, do speak slowly and clearly. Eugenia left us a generous basket of snacks but do plan to bring groceries to the island. Her kitchen is well stocked with everything you'll need to prepare memorable meals. We cannot wait to return to this special place."
